Welcome to Orientation

Thank you for becoming a member of the MD4 Reading family. We are here to make building the skills necessary for fluent reading as simple and straightforward as possible for you and your class. Additional teacher orientation can be found at "Teacher Training" on the MD4 Reading Main Menu.

There is work and fun ahead and things should move in an orderly and sequenced way in stages that will be relatively easy for everyone.

There are three things in the "Training Module" that you need to be familiar with:

  1. The Codebook - This is how students keep track of the code they receive at the end of each game that will give them access to the next highest game in an area. The Codebook can be found in Level 1and can be downloaded as a PDF or Excel spreadsheet. Each of the 8 areas of training has a Mentor, each with there own section, so give the Codebook a look and make sure students tracks their codes so they don't have to repeat a game unnecessarily.
  2. The Games - When you log into the Training Module (md4reading.com/training/) you will see a block labeled specifically for your school, click on that block to enter you schools module. The "Games" are broken into "Levels" numbered 1 through 20 with each Level consisting of 40 games. You will see these Levels in the "Navigation Block", as green boxes that are marked with their corresponding level. Just click on a box and its level will be shown below the Navigation Block. Begin with Level 1. The movement in a Level is controlled but there are two options on how to play a level which are explained in each Level.
  3. Portals - Portals are used to move between Levels and consist of 1 game. Once a player has completed all the games in a Level they use the ending codes from the last game in each of the eight areas to navigate through a portal. If the player correctly enters the eight ending codes from Level 1 they are given eight codes to begin playing the first eight games in Level 2. Make sure players track their codes in their Codebook, children find this tracking empowering and it gives them a sense of ownership.
